How/why I came up with this name.

For historical reasons, here’s why this blog started life as Eintauchen.

Blog titles are one of those things that one comes up with spontaneously, only to think of a better name five minutes later. Of course, one can rename a blog, but I have been working with this name for a while now and figure I might as well stick with it.

I created this blog originally to show some students in Leipzig how easy it is to get started. Eintauchen is a German verb that means to dive in or to immerse oneself. It seemed like an apt metaphor for overcoming one’s fears of new technology. One can discuss the merits all day long, but until one jumps in and gets wet, it remains a hollow discussion.
